2016 Annual State Conference

Taking place in paradise on Planet Earth, the Loan Wars – Return of the Lenders? proved that the Force remains strong among the mortgage professionals in Hawaii. The Buho Restaurant evening mixer on June 29 launched the event skyward as attendees socialized on a roof deck in Waikiki. Monies were raised through the evening’s silent auction, and all proceeds throughout the conference were donated to Chocolates on a Mission.

The purpose of the MBAH conference was to provide education and resources to our members by bringing together Jedi Masters from private, public, local and nationwide organizations. The packed-in agenda of speakers on June 30 and July 1 did just that. David Stevens, President and CEO of our national MBA, shared great industry insight and urged industry participation. There were many episodes of motivational speakers. Experts like Rene Rodrigues, Steve Richman and Matt De La Cruz showcased their lightsabers of knowledge to change behavior for the better. Industry Jedi Rob Chrisman gave his take on our current industry challenges. He also commented that Hawaii’s conference was one of the most well attended that he has seen this year. And, of course, every saga needs an appearance by Jedi Paul Brewbaker, who can turn an econ class into a movie script.

While we recognized the challenges, the general message was positive momentum moving forward. Thank you to all the sponsors for their great support. Thank you to the conference committee for all their hard work. And thank you to the membership group for being engaged with the MBAH and investing in your future success.

The MBAH is here to serve you. Please share your thoughts on the 2016 conference. Speakers, content, format…we would love to hear from you.
